Ghent-based band - earlier under the name Things to Come - who shot to the top of the Belgian scene through their victory in the 1998-edition of the Rock Rally (a "battle of the bands" contest, which they won before Fence and Chrome Yellow). The trademark Das Pop are (what else to expect with such a name) pop-melodies and a sound that's close to Blur and Britpop. As Bent van Looy, the singing and painting drummer, describes it "There's a need for pure pop in Belgium. Our music is without pretence, but has to be clever. This has to be clear both in the lyrics and the music.

The Little Boy Lyrics

Das Pop

The other team was rather worried when we first arrived
and we heard a little boy was kept alive
the radio was dead but the phone rang twice
and the air was kissed by a billion butterflies
so very nice
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
looking at you
looking at you
the commander of the team was a one eyed girl
she would teach us how to kill a firebird and save the world
she started crying when she heard the little boy was dead
so we stopped, packed our bags, and went to bed
just like that
and we feel the need the to sit and talk
about the ones we left behind
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
looking at you
looking at you
and we feel the need the to sit and talk
about the ones we left behind
the little boy we heard was dead
but still the planet has survived
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
and you know it ain't easy looking at you
looking at you
looking at you.
